The 5-6 mining pools will stay on a conference call to insure BIP-110 doesn't have a chance. There won't be a game of chicken or a "red" or "blue" button.

Even if the first block after activation is BIP-110 eligible (unlikely with 1-2% of the hash) then they will just wait for the second block. Then next block is not BIP-110 eligible and BIP-110 forks off, then they just chill on the conference call for another hour until 6 more blocks are mined on their chain to be sure it's over then they hang up and go to bed.

If this is true what is going to stop them from doing the same thing during a future halving. They will cry we have to or it will lead to bankrupty and the network will be left insecure? Also the world’s governments will know exactly which 5-6 entities need to be made subservient. We will wish w...

right but 15000 nodes - while there can't be more than 15000 nodes that aren't running it. hell i'd throw my hat in if i was in a better financial situation too. also what makes you so sure that people dropping taproot transactions isn't going to slow down spammers? of course it is going to slow it...

Why does a chain split happen, can someone explain this please? #asknostr

Here’s how August 7th or 8th will play out:

The 5 or 6 largest mining pools will gather on a conference call at block 961,632.
The decision will be unanimous: “We’re not flipping the bit.”

Moments later, the next block will be an OP_IF JPEG block featuring Luke/Mechanic/Kratter AI art (which BIP-110 nodes will block).

BIP-110 nodes will then split off and continue on their own chain mining 5-10 blocks a day until the next difficulty adjustment.

And, for the laughs, spammers will likely be the first to test the new Ordinals method on the BIP-110 chain so every BIP-110 block contains ordinals spam.

They don't have to build everything from scratch. They need to update inscription software, parsers and indexers. AI can update the code in a minute. It's a mild nuisance for them that does nothing to stop them.

New filters won't do anything when the 5 mining pools can just continue to not use the filters in their custom version of bitcoin software.

Cool, then they have nothing to worry about and can stop crying on twitter 24/7. We’re still going through with 110.

It’s not supposed to stop all spam. To do that is impossible. It’s a message to VCs that despite what Core signaled with v30, spam is not welcome, and will be mitigated, so stop funding spammers. As you point out, it’s only a minor disruption for ordinals, but it also closes the very simple ...

Well, too bad, and adios.

It’s stops most of it in its current form. It’s called Reduced Data Temporary Softfork (RDTS) for a reason.

I have a funny feeling there will be a mass migration from X to Nostr this year.

Elon is going to bend the knee to World Jewry.
