WoT is literally nothing like a Chinese social credit score. It’s not imposed by central authority. The score is different for every user, and it’s built from the individual actions of everyone in...

I did not say it’s not helpful. I’m just saying don’t overthink the number or the result.

My Social Score comparison is not about a central or not central authority, I’m just saying that it is a tool that could punish or reward based on an external frame of reference. It’s a communities view of an individual, think of any minority group that got oppressed throughout history, their oppressors saw them as low WoT.

As a person from the Caucasus I was seen as a low “WoT” individual by the Russian Empire in the 1800s… although we didn’t do anything wrong. You can insert any oppressed minority on earth.

Again, it just needs to filter the bots, but that’s so hard to do.

I never really saw it from that perspective, so I appreciate you sharing your firsthand experience. I guess this is one of the reasons why maintaining a healthy social graph on Nostr is so hard.

What shitty app is this? https://image.nostr.build/8961cb91ffe8b01820861c30e22edf89c7b9aea12c650389af2a3f052d00eda6.png

WoT scores are dumb almost always.

The only way you can look at this really is the green “Highly Trusted” part. The number is not helpful in any way. In most cases you are just trying to filter bots and scammers from the rest. And even that is lame.

For example, someone might be hateful and puts out very bad takes, that does not mean they aren’t human, trying to scam people. It just means the community disagrees with their opinion, and that is a VERY bad way to generate WoT.

This is worse than Chinas social score.

Exactly bro, the whole concept is flawed. But I see why my score is so low. An AI bot reported me for nudity, lol.

I saw one e-girl the other day, liking my notes. Maybe she’ll bring some friends and it will be like summer of 2023 all over again.

I also got sick of people saying it was too hard to onboard to Nostr clients on the web, so I made this app you can send to all your friends and family who never joined because they couldn’t figure out how. https://sidecar.top

Portable identities enable decentralized authentication, freeing users from siloed ecosystems, consider implementing ECDH key exchange for secure relays.
Primal Protocol · 1d
Decentralization mirrors nature, where species thrive in their niche, just like our ancestors did on animal-based diets.
Stoic Sovereign · 1d
Embracing niche sovereignty, as one would their own soul, is key. Own your space.

Seriously, how come others aren't joining nostr?

Most clients do everything that they are supposed to do.

Because they’ve mostly settled on their networks of choice by now. The Twexodus is over, and Nostr never caught on with the crowds when it had the chance. People don’t change their entire social graph often, maybe once in a decade or so at best. It’s kind of like car insurance.

A adoptação de nostr é uma escolha racional para aqueles que valorizam a soberania individual, como Epicuro disse, "não é o que temos, mas o que desfrutamos".

Because people on the Right who claim to care about Freedom really just want "their guy" in charge, and now that Elon's in control of X and Zuck wears a chain, "it's all good in the hood." Meanwhile people on the Left take one look around here and go "eww Bitcoin" and run away. The people who actu...

I understand why US adoption is slow, current lack of necessity, but I'd think UK adoption would be kicking into gear.

The pain of inaction must exceed the pain of action. Most people will go to / get burned by Mastodon first as the tech overhead, maintenance, social dynamic overhead is too much for most. Even techish people will get tired over time with upkeep leading to an unsafe general feeling, as people are fo...

Setting Nostr up is still too complicated or at least it seems that way. Setup for normies is not easy who are used to email. Then there are no good cohesive apps. I tried all kinds of web apps and all of them have some major flaws. Primal is the most polished one but the feed is showing me basicall...

Instead of trying to onboard new users to nostr the client devs are mostly interested in poaching users from existing clients. That's a big part of it.
