Meshtastic is more dynamic and self-organizing, so its stability heavily depends on node density. MeshCore is more dependent on planned, fixed repeaters and controlled networks, which makes it less flexible but generally more predictable and stable.

Lightning is pretty private if you run your own node, but spark is not as private. If you're concerned with privacy, there are other options.
