I really don't get the whole idea of the cookie popups on websites.

I mean, everyone always chooses for: essential cookies only? I do, anyway.

Some sites even say: "Don't you want a functional site?", to which I always silently reply: "Knowing that everyone disables all optional cookies anyway, don't you want (to build) to have a functional site?"

I don't care all that much if your site is broken, it's your site, your choice.

Germ0 replaces all of stage0, including m2-planet at the cost of, currently, only supporting x86_64-linux.

Germ replaces the mes interpreter, with the same caveat. There's just been an Aarch64 port of Mes and MesCC getting contributed.

The work of @nprofile1q... making mes faster is more promising in the way of eventually replacing tcc.

So Germ will use Mes and the Mes C library but we may probably see even some more kind of merge between both projects, who knows? Exciting stuff!

Still hooked on BLUE. Hacked all day yesterday and today converting Dezyne's (https://dezyne.org) build system. Opened six issues, and two pull requests, one already merged.

It's not perfect *just* yet, in fact, some issues are show-stoppers for BLUE to replace Autotools for Dezyne, which has a pretty "interesting" build system.

I would very much recommend to anyone who has a soft-spot for build-systems and/or Guile to take a look.

However, the experience of hacking a build system in Guile is amazing! And I'm certain the show-stoppers will be resolved some time soon.

Great talk by @nprofile1q... of #GNU #Hurd fame, in a packed room, selling the the Hurd really well (in my not entirely unbiased opinion, of course) and starting with

It's all about Freedom #0,

and also Freedom from the system administrator. We know all about that, isn't right #Guix folks?

And although @nprofile1q... is really still carrying and championing the Hurd effort, plenty of attribution to the work of others, mentioning Guix at least three times!

Well, only if you have been living under a rock since 1983. Some of us have been foreseeing this, been writing about this, and have been taken action since the early eighties. Most every year there is such an incident.

And it has very little if anything to do with Microsoft or with the US. If you're running proprietary software, you are being controlled and all bets are off.

The only way to be in control of your computing is to use free software. And as an aside: using free software from the US is fine.
