Nobody came to my first #BitcoinWalks in Munich.

So my dog Lilly and I went alone. It was wonderful. We had everything we needed: fresh air, the river, trees, sky – and time to simply enjoy it.

Last Saturday, two years and almost 100 walks later, we were alone again for the first time. Equally wonderful.

I love walking with other Bitcoiners – discussing topics close to our hearts, building community, meeting new faces. But there's something special about the solitude with my dog. More stillness, more intensity.

On this walk I thought about arguments for preserving #cash. One key reason: privacy.

Cash leaves no digital traces. No company or authority knows what I bought, how much, where, or when. We send our letters in envelopes, encrypt our emails and oppose chat control. – yet we expose our consumption habits completely, even though they reveal incredibly much about us.

Interesting contradiction.

BitcoinWalk Munich last Saturday — every Sat 🚶🏻‍♀️🐕☀️

33°C, bright sunshine and a beautiful route along the Isar.

My personal highlight? A tiny navigation mistake with a big upside. 😄
After taking a wrong turn on our way to the beer garden, another BitcoinWalker and I decided not to walk back — we simply jumped into a side arm of the Isar and let the current carry us towards our destination. 🌊

But of course, there was plenty to talk about too:

🔐 The Coldcard incident
A major wake-up call for the Bitcoin community: even with self-custody and a hardware wallet, there is no such thing as absolute security. A firmware bug from 2021 resulted in weak randomness for affected devices, allowing attackers to derive vulnerable seeds and steal more than 1,800 BTC – without ever having physical access to the devices.

⚡️ Blackouts & preparing for crises
How realistic is the risk of a nationwide blackout? Should we stock up on supplies? And what does being prepared really mean?

Maybe resilience is about much more than food and emergency supplies: physical fitness, mental strength, strong relationships and the ability to take responsibility for ourselves.

Bitcoin is so much more than money or an investment.

Ethics.
Self-sovereignty.
Freedom.
