Been playing a bit now, collected some tome points and now doing quests.

Verdict: a few tiny finicky things, but other than that even my GUI addons are working well. Definitly much better than before, and very playable. Which is great, I have a feeling it'll make me pick the game back up much more often.

@nprofile1q... @nprofile1q... Yeah I have that enabled. But Steam Play is only for Steam games afaik. Non-Steam games are but a mere shortcut to Steam, and getting them to use Proton is a pain hence using Lutris there. And you cannot link a Steam and non-Steam ESO account either, so simply installing it from Steam doesn't work either unless I want to loose 15 years of progress.

Which might be good. The reason I have a Zenimax account for it rather than using my Steam one is because historically, the Steam client has been offline more often than the Zenimax one. Things like Crowns and ESO+ have also been easier to get with sales, although that kinda ended ages ago when physical sales of those stopped.

But indeed, who knows. I don't think Zenimax will be likely to say much about it. Well. I'll test tonight 👍.

@nprofile1q... @nprofile1q... I mean, I run it from Steam too. Non-Steam shortcuts are nice to have your whole library in one overview, especially on Deck 😝.

I asked my partner to turn it on for updating, so hopefully I can test tonight when I get back from the office.

Dunno if the controls itself changed over time, but eager to try. And who knows, maybe if they didn't change, I did. Seems like a good moment to retry again regardless.

Do hope these extra Steam Deck compatibility changes don't only work with Proton but are made on the side of ESOs code. I have the Zenimax launcher version and it's running in a regular Wine prefix setup with Lutris. Which overall works quite well. Since it came with update 50 I'd expect it's indeed a ESO code update and not a Proton update, but there's always a chance they got in contact with Valve or pushed some changes to them in the process of update 50 I guess.

Oh cool. I once tested controller support years ago but it felt horrid back then so I stuck with mouse & keyboard. I mean, tbf every MMO either didn't work or the controlls where horendous and ESO was better than most. But it still wasn't a nice experience compared to M&K.

Nowadays I rarely feel like taking my mouse and keyboard out to play games, meaning I rarely play ESO despite it being installed on my Deck. But this sounds promising! Perhaps it's time to give it another go with a controller 😏.

But it'll be harder to convince a store clerk of the logic again. Unless you go by 2 different locations so they don't realise it 🤔. And I wish you good luck eating 2 of those on your own. They look small but are so fatty they'll fill you like crazy. I can't eat 2 whole ones for sure 🤣🤣🤣.
