@nprofile1q... yes it’s their normal mid to late summer molting, unlike most birds cardinals often drop all their head feathers at once like this one. We have a lot of resident cardinals and I’ve seen a couple of males with bald heads over the past week or so.

@nprofile1q... I know they & other birds like to eat tender flower buds including those of my Kentucky Wonder pole beans (darn them) but I’ve never observed them tearing & eating mature leaves like this one was. Was wondering if it had anything to do with unique molting behavior (?).
