That's their goal, so they can collect data points and collect their rent. The internet was built to route around malfunctioning nodes, and that's not gone away.

@nprofile1q... @nprofile1q... feels very much like the cities who didn't embrace cars who were going to be left behind, only to find that now those cities are so reliant on cars (and the price of oil) that they're fragile and unmaintainable.

@nprofile1q... not taking about the problems is how you get the Nazis. "No-one wants to talk about immigration" they say, or "no-one wants to talk about women's place". And no-one challenges them because it's more nuanced that than and it's not a pithy soundbite. Or you do talk about it and "suddenly trans people are everywhere".

More people need to talk about problems because when the Nazis are the only ones talking, they control the story.
