The day I left journalism, I was to interview a racialized cop—as if that absolved him of anything. I knew I was going to quit so I asked questions such as, how do you feel about arresting people that are just trying to survive a world that requires you to pay to live? and, what does your family think about your choice to exercise power over others? *sigh* browsing new audiobooks... Narrated by virtual voice. Narrated by AI technology. Hoopla, Libby, Audible, Libro FM, they are everywhere! Guess I'll be listening to my favorite audiobook narrators and their new releases until I read about their deaths in the news, or just never purchase new stuff and or read Fanfiction/public domain books.

I get it, producing an audiobook is expensive, but narrators are actually nice! Many are my closest friends and others offered to do a work swap after I emailed them.

But frankly, I use a screen reader. I do not, nor will I ever need, AI/TTS narrated audiobooks outside of my screen reader.

I *might* actually pitch something to Aftermath! I stumbled upon this punk retro gaming repair place and so I did the old journalism thing and interviewed a few people. it's full Gonzo reporting though, but still, couldn't hurt! Only thing is, Aftermath has a pitch first, write if approved submission process. I like it the other way where I submit fully completed drafts/narratives. I feel like a pitch first, then green light, then write approach throws me off and influences how I write. My preferred way, there's no expectations. Only editing. Still, editors say it's harder to edit someone especially if their writing style is vastly different from the publication, which is the case with me.
