Welp - three different "everyday use cases" for AI came up over lunch today; one was utterly useless & the other two were solved far better with a proper search engine & a fucking pocket calculator.

Meanwhile, two different tech profiles in my extended circles, both with a considerable audience & one of them doing a 360 from their previous position, came out as vocally anti-AI today, on Linkedin no less.

The fart noise from the deflating bubble is getting louder.

I do wish people would stop reacting to said cynicism & fury by turning to the exact parties who will fix nothing & make everything worse, including the things they're mad about.

Even if it wasn't incredibly harmful, which it obviously is - see: Making everything worse - it's just fucking embarrassing. They're not even *good* con artists; fascist is literally the thing you become if you're too incompetent to be a regular fraud.

Google has no idea how they make money - they literally think it's magic.

It's pro'lly true they think they can serve more ads if they keep the user on their site, but that disregards the entire ad network. Moving around the web users are served literally hundreds of ads - there's simply no way to cram all of that into one Google page & they'd be worthless if there was.

- or rather more worthless; GGL has been diminishing the value of ad spending for years already.
