@nprofile1q... this! I didn't mention this, but obviously saving up and investing is also a concern. The aim is a slightly lower cost of living and a basic form of FIRE, which seems surprisingly challenging in Spain.

In all honesty, it was between Spain and Italy because they have the lowest taxes (Beckham law and Regime Impatriati), moving to France would cost me tens of thousands. But, if housing is a lot cheaper in France it's worth considering again.
