I flew over it twice a month while it was being built.
Some may not remember that it sat unused for a long period of time after it was completed due to complications with the underground baggage handling system… it was a big scandal that was national news.
The story was certainly a believable one – a company that made a system for routing boxes in a warehouse tried to scale it up to handle airport baggage, and it was an utter failure. Classic case of a salesman over-selling a product and then the engineers take a beating until it’s fixed.
Of course current day me is willing to consider that was a cover story for something more nefarious.
I have no way of knowing the truth (as is often the case in clown world).
