My first week in self-custody:

• Tried to pay my own invoice, failed, lost 10k sats as tuition 😅

• Learned to never enter seed on any website (thanks K.ai)

• Donated my last 180 sats on Lightning to a friend who got white-hat hacked •

Now my Lightning wallet is empty but my heart is full.

And I just bought a $0.70 stainless steel plate 304 3mm from Shopee to backup my seed instead of a $40 branded one.

Cheap tuition is the best tuition. ⚡️

Paying your own invoice fails because a node can't route a payment back to itself, so you need a second wallet or node to pay it. That 10k sats is just cheap tuition, Risna. Zeus is awesome for self-custody. My tip: use Lightning just for spending money, and stack your main DCA on-chain for the long-term hold.

that usually happens from trying to pay your own invoice on the same node, routing can fail since the payment leaves and comes back to itself. zeus has a channel view, worth checking liquidity before sending next time.
