While on the surface this could be a funny meme, I think there are two things wrong with it: (1) nurses generally don't do stitches (unless they are nurse practitioners), and (2) I think this meme went with "nurse" because it implies "female ex" in which case their is underlying misogyny in the assumption that women can't be doctors and only women exes are vengeful.

Answered a call from a number I didn't know because I thought it was a call I was expecting. Turns out it was someone just calling homeowners to see if they would sell their homes.

"Hello, is this [my name]?"

"Why are you calling?"

"Would you be interest in selling your home at [my address]?"

"Nope."

"Would you be interested in selling any other real estate you may have?"

"Nope."

I could hear other people in the background. Fucking private equity firms. 😡

I am obsessed with this photo. They supposedly are employees of a legal firm, but it looks like the two on the right are a couple getting propositioned by the dude in the three-piece suit. Also, none of them are reflected in the shiny floor of the building lobby, so they might also be vampires. Maybe that's why employers fear them?

I'm an old white hetero dude with a senior role in the organization, I figured I wanted folks to know I stood for Pride and wanted people to feel free and safe when they came into my office." (And maybe make any bigots uncomfortable?)

We eventually returned to office. Staff came and went. My tape stayed. Eventually, most young staff in the office had no idea why the tape was there.

One day last year, a young new hire was in my office and asked how she could get a nameplate like mine. I managed to find the tape and told her to knock herself out. 😂 The knowledge of the existence of the office's Gay Tape™️ somehow had not survived the pandemic! She then asked, "Wait, are you gay?" I was like, "Nope." 🙂

It was great. We put it everywhere—on mugs in the kitchen, on staplers, whatever. I also put it on my office nameplate.

The pandemic came, we abandoned the office for TWO WHOLE YEARS. The mugs got washed, the stapler disappeared . . . but my nameplate remained. 🤔
