What's the setting that determines b/n the embedded and the LND? If I uninstall LND, would Hub still work?

Yes Bitcoin core is required. It's the center of bitcoin transactions. Lightning depends on bitcoin core. Why? When you open channels with peers on Lightning, the onchain funds needs to be registered...

Great feedback! I understand the opening channels and managing liquidity part.

However, I wanted to confirm the LND and the Bitcoin Core part. Alby Hub setup videos don't explicitly mention those dependencies, but I think it is because people assume that an LND node is already up and running, and by the virtue of the dependency, Bitcoin Core as well.

I assumed that somehow all is bundled with Alby Hub. They should make it more clear. The videos make it look so easy.

I am trying to set up Alby Hub on StartOS.

Is Bitcoin Core required? It sounds that Alby Hub has a dependency on LND, and LND is dependent on Bitcoin Core. Is that the required sequence?

I am learning, so any help will be appreciated.

both are optional. you can choose either to use it with the start9 LND or use the embedded node in the hub. whatever you prefer. LND requires bitcoin core

I don't think Americans are ready for this debate yet. #handegg https://image.nostr.build/9c6cab28bdc948d48828f05dfee616ef3a87ab00d7930482bb09e1843d8647a2.jpg

I don't understand what the dilemma is all about... There is even a specially designated position for the guy who "kicks" the egg every once in a while.

On average, the actual play time is about 11 min for the whole game, and the kicker gets to get in and participate so there is some kicking involved for a few seconds out of the 11 min of actual play.
