i thought nostr was about freedom tech and helping to ensure more freedom (less false and harmful manipulation, no deplatforming, increased honesty in communication) so the world can be more free and arguably thrive more beautifully.

getting mainstream people on nostr is part of that…for nostr to be mainstream.

to have fun here but also to communicate important things here when it’s necessary (to speak truthfully without being censored and in some cases more radically).

derek is a special case. he is super polite, very well-liked, super smart and enthusiastic about nostr. most significantly, he’s well-connected and funded.

if there are to be other effective “marketers” to grow nostr, it will also have to be funded.

funding by either independently wealthy folks w lots of time n energy

or funding to plebs who need income to have the cognitive bandwidth to do extra things (even things they really care about).

& at this stage, you can’t just advertise nostr. marketing is not a fitting concept.

that part of the conservative republicans are, without a shred of doubt, absolutely NOT trustworthy. a well known fact. they are NOT at all in any way shape or form, reasonable people. they could get an argument directly from god and refuse to hear anything.

other perfectly fine enough candidates, including harris, could have been swayed to support bitcoin in a more principled manner.

The Libertarian Party threw away their values and helped install an authoritarian President because they want to make their number go up. This is the biggest way that Bitcoin has ever been a shitcoin.

it’s pretty detrimental to bitcoin. so many nice type of good-natured persons with more consciousness and awareness of their actual principles…who look up bitcoin will see who has been speaking at the bitcoin conferences and will immediately just say fuck no. imho.

will need miracles to help change perceptions.
