The August 1814 burning of the #WhiteHouse was a glorious sabotage of the slave-holding empire 🇺🇲 whose genocide killed 90% of #NativeAmericans.

The burning was directed by Major General Robert Ross, from County Down. Ulster Protestants like Bob are famous for #pyromania. Their huge July bonfires are scary highlights of Ulster summer.

But the bonfires rely on plentiful #pallets. Without #palletisation, young #orangemen might still go west to burn #WashingtonDC each summer. #MuchNoreFun!

Monday 24th August was the 20th anniversary of the demotion of the planet #Pluto.

Shamefully, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) didn't stop with needless redefinition. It added insult by rebranding Pluto as a "dwarf planet". Mean Girls, eh?

Pedantry is unneeded. The definition of continent is vague, but useful. No need to be anal about planets.

But Pluto gets the last laugh. Humans have set planet earth on fire. But Pluto's ice surface is safe. Sod you, dwarf-taunting earthlings.

In 2022 years ago, the bold Robert was outed for failing to declare transactions between his property empire and Westmeath County Council, of which he had been a member. He resigned his post as junior minister.
