@nprofile1q... last year I spent three months full-time as a car-camping nomad (sort of a trial run of hashtag VanLife), and while I'm thankful for the place I live in now and the stuff I'm doing in Portland, not a day goes by that I don't think about that lifestyle and accept the fact that it will someday again be my reality.

I had *experiences* out there man. Experiences like nothing else. Pure magic. I'm fully with you brother!

It would be cool if all the thousands of tech workers laid off from tech companies who likely weren't too fond of having slop machines shoved down their throats got together and made some new startup products (sans slop machines) which make the tech companies' products look like the utter trash they are.

Just sayin'.

One of the ideas we kind of explored with elementary OS but never really iterated on was “widgets” as mini apps that use existing window manager hints combined with special treatment from the wind...

@nprofile1q... as a massive fan of widgets (though not as typically implemented in some other dashboard/icons layer, but as real integrated windows), this is definitely something I'd love to see. I already use a number of GNOME apps as "widgets" (aka I make them as small as possible and sometimes have them floating on one side)

Well, it's the beginning of April y'all. Change is in the air, growth all around.

Thus I have made the momentous decision to wind down my Mastodon account and focus instead on posting content via all of Meta's platforms.

Threads. Instagram. And yes, even Facebook. 🙌

Mark Zuckerberg is a generational genius, and I can no longer resist the siren song of experiencing my content swirled around in an algorithmic feed along with a billion other souls.

I saw my annual subscription to The Verge was coming up and…

…I decided to cancel.

I'm just not interested in outlets which regularly platform CEOs and allow them to spread lies, delusions, and political malfeasance. I think Nilay Patel is the *least* objectionable of the tech pundits out there on that level, but he's still *far* too credulous.

Instead, I'll toss a coin to some other great indies starting with… Pivot to AI!
