Is Bitcoin Beethoven or Bach?

I’ll bite :) From the lens of “Bitcoin the invention/revolution”, it is closer to Beethoven as his music marked a big departure from the classical period (into the romantic area). However Bach is known for the mathematical precision of his compositions as well as their adherence to strict rules which mapped very well to “Bitcoin, the money backend by math (cryptography) with rules and no rulers.“

What are some of the pitfalls that led to a centralised web being built on top of the deecentralised internet protocol? I'm thinking a lot about this in terms of building on top of NOSTR and where th...

Four things I can think about:
* technical knowledge barrier (most people have no idea or the will to setup, run and maintain servers)
* ISPs split upload/download speeds favoring download by far making it less favorable to self host
* incentives: people unfortunately do not value privacy enough and as soon as companies like google started to provide great centralized services (starting with gmail), everybody jumped on it and never looked back as decentralized/privacy focus solutions were just more complex to work with
* network effects: most people just use what other people use. Once centralized solution got big enough, it just got bigger from there.

GREAT idea. I can actually build this into my nostr-irc client. Regex should suffice.

The more relays you have, generally speaking, the worse your experience gets because you have to make connections and write and read data to every single one of them. I had 40 about 2 months ago and i...

I agree; having too many relays is an issue for clients. Relay like nostr.wine are good to workaround this as they themself connect to multiple relays with you only connecting to one. It is however a centralizing force as they are choosing the relay they connect to. The ideal would be a class of relays (paid likely as it would be quite ressource consuming) that you connect to and that you can configure to connect to a list of relay you choose.
