Any time you give a nonhuman thing a point of view, you're inevitably humanizing them. The ones I mention are ones that retain a lot of nonhuman characteristics (they're not just humans in costumes)

--Sue Burke's Semiosis series features sentient plants
--Richard Adams's Watership Down! Rabbit POV

My earlier ones in the Tales of the Polity did have taglines. The one for THE INCONVENIENT GOD was, "What if you try to retire a god who is not ready to leave?" and the one for LAGOONFIRE was "The past can be a difficult thing to escape."
We haven't chosen one A FLASH OF SCARLET yet, but I'm going to suggest "Nothing is inevitable."

Telling a story online can be magical under the right circumstances. And maybe that'...
@nprofile1q... One hundred percent agree about every aspect of this: the non-monetized part, the sitting-around-the-fire part. How this is something really special about sharing stories online.
But they weren't bad. That's not really my point. Reading the chapters and experiencing the story in a linear way also made sense. That's part of the joy of a book, it's an experience that takes time ...
@nprofile1q... I think about this and play with it all the time because of doing microfiction. The character limit for my instance of Mastodon is quite low, so if I want to write a story in one toot, I'm often thinning out words ... but then sometimes I want to enrich and expand the story, maybe to submit it to a flash fiction market.
