The Knots fork to me represents the departure from what Bitcoin is VS the idealized image of Bitcoin certain maximalists had in mind. Sorry for being a heretic, but I don't think Satoshi was some kind of altruistic libertarian prophet sent down from on high. I like Bitcoin because it's better for now, not because it is going to save the world and usher in a utopia.

If Bitcoin has design issues (like miner centralization, node implementation centralization, privacy concerns, etc.), that means Bitcoin even it its purest form has some end-stage problems. Same thing with miner rewards once all of the coins have been disbursed.

Even with all of that in mind, it is better. And people you don't like will recognize it as better and put influence on the network and the protocol. It's also possible, in fact likely, that Satoshi was someone(s) you probably wouldn't have liked either.

For me, this isn't enough to move away from what momentum we have right now.

Also, after a week of tinkering in my spare time I got #FreeBSD setup with a desktop from scratch and most of my files transferred over from a backup. Was it worth it? Well, depends.

The laptop is much faster, and I learned a ton, and I'm excited to embrace the less chaotic nature of FreeBSD compared to Linux. However, I definitely didn't need to go through all this trouble lmao
