@Chuck

Engineer equivalent of a Rōnin. I am no longer bound to any one master and free to use my skills to help the poor and slay the rich.

Father, Roboticist, Radio Amateur, Pun enthusiast, and an odd sense of humor. AI Slop avatar on purpose to poison scrapers who use name/face pairs to train facial recognition databases. I look "kind" of like that.

Well I got #RTEMS booting on my STM32U5-Discovery board so now I'm going to need to write a framebuffer driver to see how the ST "Vector Graphics Accelerator" works. Perhaps I'll port my p3dc package to it.

Meanwhile, over on Bluesky, my ability to attract young large breasted women who "just want a relationship with a mature older man." continues unabated. 🤣

This was an interesting time to be sure. "In-band" document formatting flourished and then Butler wrote BRAVO at PARC and people were like "Wow, seeing it *as* your typing it?" and we got the command adjacent formatters like Interleaf and FrameMaker. And of course Microsoft copied Bravo in (Word). Wang's "Multimate" was more like troff with windows.

Ohh, I had completely blocked out my memories of PUB 😆 very traumatic.

We had a Dicomed type setter/printer and a Professor (who had graduated Stanford) who wanted to use it to typeset his book. But after about a month and a half trying to get a driver to work with the film typesetter he switched to SCRIBE which already had a working driver, so I was off the hook.

@nprofile1q... Two things will happen. One you'll likely hear a knock on the door before you hang up 😃 and two, you'll get to evaluate whether or not that would be a useful piece of gear to have. If the latter, there are often deals to be found on used gear.

It's... definitely a filter. I can say that much. Not sure what's up with the 0 dB regions at start and end of the sweep, it's clearly a bug (The waveform behavior doesn't match, it's definitely not ...

@nprofile1q... You have a lot of test equipment, you get it calibrated right? And people who see your stuff sometimes go out and buy the same kind of stuff right? I'd call up your R&S and Keysight reps and say "Hey, I'm wondering about a 20GHz VNA, could you bring one by and show me what you got? If so let me know when so it doesn't conflict with <other vendor> coming over, thanks!" 1/2

You can tell because from the side view it seems be powered by a 9V battery. 😆 I have thought at some point about doing something like that schematic but with an SDR core instead of a regenerative tranceiver. All the cool communicators in the 21st century have USB-C ports and LiOn batteries right?
