Yea, I use some as remote temperature sensors by attaching one of those temp/humidity/pressure sensors to the board with i2c, and then have it wake up once every 60 seconds or so, take a reading, and then does an HTTP GET on pi:9000/sensor/<id>/<temp>/<hum>/<pressure> from a Raspberry Pi on the network. That Pi is running and httpd server in python using bottle. It copies out the <id> <temperature> <humidity> <pressure> bits of the passed in URL and writes them to a database (influx)
