@nprofile1q... I liked the days when we were panicking about China listening in on all our telephone calls / scooping up our mobile data.

Now we just talk directly to some American company's AI and ask them to diagnose our medical problems that we're too embarrassed to see a real doctor for.

What was on the menu for the dinner? Because something definitely smells fishy.

@nprofile1q... Wow yours uses email?

In the UK our equivalent sends out letters... except they get stuck long enough in some outbound mailroom that they generate a second one/snarky chaser letter because you didn't respond quick enough to the first.

"Ceasefires are always good news," says Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez. But he says his government "will not applaud those who set the world ablaze just because they turn up with a bucket"

That... is a fecking great line.

UK society to millennials: "You need to make sure you're adding lots of money to your private pension pots - otherwise you won't have any money when you want to retire... Save! Save! Save!"

A bunch of old men (aged 70+) - not even from in the UK, or even Western Europe - decide to start unnecessary wars and wipe out investments in pensions plummet.

It's fine. I've always assumed I was going to die at my work desk anyway.

Took a while to find the phrase that @nprofile1q... used recently that I really liked that summed up this situation.

Reverse-centaur

This article screams that Burger King would really just prefer to get rid of the squishy human part of their system. The next best thing... make that squishy human subservient to some lines of code that effectively tells them to "smile more".
