This one particularly grated on me because when I ‘served’ I was 17 years old and only joined the military because I barely escaped high school with no idea what else to do. My ‘service’ was completely self-service as was the ‘service’ of 90% of the people I ‘served’ with. There was no altruistism invlolved and this obligatory expression of thanks distorts the actual motives of our state sponsored mercenary forces. Even with the increased focus on ‘service’ and ‘patriotism’ in recent decades I’m sure the majority of ‘servicemembers’ are there because they need a job and know they’ll have their basic needs addressed on base.
A song lyric got stuck in my head for a bit. I let it roll around in my head wondering how it might apply to my life. Turns out it’s not that complicated. Despite whatever else I might worry about, life’s been pretty good so far.
(Dumb?) Question… if it’s estimated that 20-25% of all #Bitcoin is already locked out due to lost keys, what happens as it slowly dwindles over decades and centuries as people inevitably lose track of accounts and people die without passing on custody?
There is so much ‘free’ content in the world that even if something I like a lot has a ‘Subscriber Portion’ I just consume the free stuff and move on to the next free stuff. I don’t care what’s behind your paywall.
When it comes to services there are a couple I pay for.
