Unlimited data storage reduces the utility of Bitcoin as currency. I just had to upgrade my bitcoin drive from 1T to 2T. Use another block chain for arbitrary data and store hashes, with actual data using a distributed storage protocol like IPFS. Note that if you want reliable storage, you will have to pay for it (with BTC). But volunteers will have fun hosting data - until they need a second job or whatever.

One problem with volunteer data storage (including on Bitcoin) is illegal images/files. One solution I've been considering for IPFS is encrypting files using the hash as key. So you have to know the hash to get the file.
BUT, if the feds raid your house, and the database/filesystem can iterate over all the hashes stored (as is the case with normal hash/btree/etc indexing), then they can search for illegal images. And if there is one (there is - that is how they got a warrant), off to jail you go (unless you have corporate lawyers to insist that you are a common carrier with no control over what files are stored).
I've had several ideas for a non-iterable filesystem - but it is a tricky problem. And might not solve the problem, and LE will just poll all volunteer servers to see who is storing an illegal hash.

Another solution is a govt database of hashes for illegal files (i.e. blacklist). But that entails it's own censorship issues. And actual criminals can change just one pixel or add an extra letter to a classified document to change the hash. So the law enforcement value is not that great.

Just got an email from google play saying all apps need to age verify users in Texas? Grok is this real
Custom Designed profile picture
Worse, google is changing Android in Sep 2026 to prevent loading your own apps. Google will test all app store apps for age verification and remove any that don't meet the requirement. F-droid and developer mode will be history. I've been using my laptop to make calls, but I'm sure the infection will go there also.

I'm using Fedora - and as a US corp, they have to figure out something. So far, their lawyers parsing of the decrees says the OS has to present an API to webpages - but no actual age verification is possible or required. The admin (e.g. parent) might find it useful to set the age range for their child's user account.

But that can also work to mark them as a target for predators. My approach was strict whitelisting for the kids. If they wanted a new website, they had to petition me to whitelist it. Same with email. Today, matrix protocol is easily configured to talk only to whitelisted homeservers (e.g. NOT matrix.org). So kids can have their own domain managed by parents as to who they can talk to. (E.g. family domain can talk to anyone, kids domain talks only to approved family domains.)

Except when you burn a LGBTGIA+ flag. Then you get 15 years.

Note that Trump's EO doesn't prohibit flag burning in general, but flag burning "with the intent to incite violence". This is in line with both the Constitution and the SCOTUS ruling. Proving intent is tricky, but maybe a few will serve the 1 year sentence.

For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; He is to be feared above all gods. For all the gods of the nations are idols, but it is the LORD who made the heavens. Splendor and majesty are before Him; strength and beauty fill His sanctuary.

Gnome Boxes was great for me some time ago. You can also try KVM/Qemu VM There is always VirtualBox is everything else fails :)

Gnome Boxes is just another front end to KVM. The minimalist front end to KVM is virsh (CLI).

VirtualBox works on hardware where the ISA does not support virtual machines (or where said, *cough* Intel, instructions are buggy and insecure). Instead of full emulation, it patches the ram of supported OSes to make system calls.

Xen also works on hardware with no ISA support for VMs. (It also supports ISA VM support.) There is a xen micro-kernel that does nothing but run VMs. Even IO is done by a privileged VM. The kernel in the VMs must have Xen device drivers - which today are merged with virtio device drivers (so the same drivers work for both Xen and KVM).
