I totally forgot about Breez, and I never gave BlueWallet + lightning a chance.

I think Zues + a lightning sub wallet ran through Alby would be interesting. The native tor integration with Zues still gives me some headaches with not connecting. Although I wonder if that’s also my node 😅.

Haha, I totally get you 😅 Lightning + Tor setups can be tricky sometimes. Could be your node, could be the wallet, either way, experimenting is half the fun!

If they really have no understanding of Bitcoin, I'm still recommending muun. When they start asking then i bump them up to something else But still nobody i know cares for bitcoin hahaha

I was going to test muun ages ago, but I just never did lol. I’m curious about muun vs Bull Wallet. Is muun on chain at rest?

The swap fees on Bull I feel like could turn off a new user, but when I tested it recently the process was very slick, and I don’t have concerns about the liquid network even if it’s technically custodial. 🌊

I still use muun for the past 4 years. If fees are high muun will get you. Thats the only thing i keep an eye on.

What wallets is everyone using to onboard family and friends that show interest in bitcoin?

I’d feel 100% comfortable recommending Sparrow on desktop, but for mobile I’m less sure. Ideally it would be onchain/lightning because so much of the payment infrastructure is through lightning now.

It would be nice if there was native tor integration so they could utilize my node rather than a public one. I think this is the main thing Phoenix Wallet is missing. Orbot is so ass I can’t push anyone towards that haha. 😆

I recommend phoenix to my friends .. Its very easy to use and understand.. Own node is not important for the first time experiencing bitcoin ... And it can add a delay and make the experience less "impressing" ... Once they want to dig deepe i'll show them how to connect to my node and explain them ...

I still have them do on-chain and lightning separately, explaining that Lightning is like their checking account, or a small savings that you build up a bit before putting the funds into long-term savings (on-chain). As for what wallet, generally stick with Phoenix for lightning and Nunchuk for on-...

Agreed geyser is not ideal. However, I don’t think having it listed as an address/lnurl on the donation page would move the needle a significant amount. I would expect larger donations to move on chain.

I also agree that there is lots of fud out there surrounding bitcoin spending.
