@Griffith one of the original intentions of land tax was to force landowners to make their land productive, i.e. cultivate it, but that makes zero sense in a modern residential context. now it's more like you're renting your land from the government or paying tribute to them; and the tax money you pay certainly doesn't come from the land itself, which is usually used for sleeping, grilling burgers, and maybe growing tomatoes.
