@nprofile1q... I know for my bluetooth keyboard, I had to pull up a bluetooth shell and send some command for it to trust the pairing. There might be something similar with the controller, I don't know.

I mention the 8bit one because it has the AB+ C-pad layout of the N64 in a package more fitting for adult hands

I can see it over bluetooth, blueman pretend it's connected but the leds still go K-2000 and steam don't see it. Maybe it need some okd magic incantation but I forgot how to speak them.

I saw you mention an ocarina, have you seen the 8bitdo N64 controller?

@nprofile1q... I don't know if you are familiar with it, on top of a classic N64 controller, it has a closed slot, slightly smaller than with a memory pack, has rumble, and between L and R button 4 led, ZR button, home button and circle in square screenshot button.
Using steam test device inputs, some buttom make sense. Joystick map to left joystick, A, B, d-pad, L, R, start map to +, C-up and C-left map to X/Y
Other make less sense.
ZR map to L3. C-right map to -. C-down to right trigger, Z to left tri
