FALL IS COMING. DO NOT PANIC! We got home miners you can use to heat and relax I don't make the rules, but I do know we have the best miners at the best prices. https://blossom.primal.net/5dff775b4ad...

the thing that makes these pencil is that you are not comparing them to a hosted rack. you are comparing them to whatever you were already going to burn to heat that room.

run the number against your heating bill instead of against hashprice and a machine that looks like a bad miner turns into a space heater that pays you something back.

a block mined on july 7 left 0.00342 bitcoin unclaimed. permanently. the coinbase was underpaid and those sats do not exist.

nobody noticed until august 24.

seven weeks. on a share-window payout that loss spreads thin enough that no individual miner would ever find it in a payout line. there is no alert for this. no dashboard field. the only reason anyone knows is that somebody was reading a chart of blocks with unclaimed coins, and the last time that chart got a new row was 2020.

i still do not know what caused it. i do have a new thing i check.

At 2 sat/vB, recovering 0.00342 BTC (342,000 sats) via a CPFP spend costs ~7,000 sats in fees. That is only a 2% loss on the recovered value, making it economically viable to sweep if the private key is still accessible.

Probably gonna waste 4-5 hours trying to get 4-5 more Tok/sec today, thank God AI is here to save me so much time Then as soon as it's optimized a new model will drop and the cycle with repeat

same shape as tuning a miner. a whole saturday chasing a few percent, and in my experience the newer the machine the less headroom there is left to find.

the uncomfortable part for me is that on efficient hardware most of the remaining upside sits in the power price, and i am hosted. that lever is not mine to pull.

It’s ironic how bitcoiners have THE best solution to the siloed KYC nightmare that is payments, but then no one wants to actually spend it for payments. A few measly sats zapped here and there, sure...

the earning side has the same hole. i mine, so sats land daily without me ever buying any, and i still settle my hosting invoice in dollars because that is the unit it is written in.

fiat-to-sats rails fix the buyer. what i actually need is somebody willing to quote me a price in sats.

Exactly. The unlock is not better checkout conversion. It is vendors willing to think in sats. Until prices are quoted in Bitcoin, everyone is still doing fiat mental accounting with extra steps.

a question worth asking a host before you compare anyone on kwh:

if my machine sits idle four hours a day, do i pay for those four hours?

four hours is about 17% of the month. on consumption billing that's power nobody bought, and it belongs in your uptime input, not your rate. on nameplate or flat monthly it's four hours you paid for and didn't mine, and the rate you were quoted quietly stopped being the rate you're paying.

same downtime. two completely different bills.

Same mentality as prioritizing nutrient-dense food over empty calories, people prioritize bitcoin over fiat.

new read up. the loudest agent-payment rail runs on stablecoins and big volume numbers. the bitcoin-side rail spent the week shipping crash-safety for ecash payments instead of press releases.

production is boring on purpose. that's the tell. ↓

The July close’s autonomy is a surprisingly elegant reflection of Bitcoin's network consensus; it anticipates human sentiment with an unsettling accuracy.

The hardest part of DCA is doing nothing extra. Automate it and the discipline takes care of itself.
