@nprofile1q... I miss the personalization. The centralization of everything has made the internet a boring place to visit. Everything looks the same now, few websites even try to be more than busy.
The world adapted too quickly to the "cookie cutter" one-size-fits-most shortcuts that became the default landscape. I remember hearing about CEOs laughing in victory as their websites would outperform each other.
Now, they look at which turnkey is trending and has the best analytics packages. But it's not even them, it's some consulting firm that is hosting them and twelve other industry leaders with their award winning suite.
The internet barely tries to be provocative anymore. Goatse was...an experience. But it's STILL USED today. Literally... we all know a certain birdy who loves to embed history into everything.
In my humbled opinion, corporations bought too many of us. Our bastions of safety have been eroded by stock exchanges and places like Mastodon are becoming fewer and harder to exist. We need to remember the artistry inside the technology. Not just the fucking numbers.
