@nprofile1q... I use UTM. It pairs with the native macOS hypervisor and utilizes either QEMU or Apple Virtualization Framework.

I run a headless Debian instance with the cloud-kernel. It boots in about 2 seconds, maybe less. By the time I command the vm to start, I'm able to ssh into it.

Knowing the price hikes were incoming, I ordered an 15" M5 MacBook Air back in early May. It has been exceptional - speed, silent and always cool to the touch. Running a Debian VM and screen set at 60% brightness, battery usage was 4% per hour.

It really makes me irritated that Intel has exhibited "1970s General Motors" level of stagnation and laziness over the past decade. Where are ridiculously fast fanless x86 laptops on which one can install Linux?
