I had the opportunity to play some pro trumpets today and proved that the tone comes from the player, not the horn 😂

They all felt pretty good, much more consistent than my student horn. But I got to experience that there is no magic to trumpet, just practice!

Why is there no equivalent of biathlon in the Summer Olympics?

I am not originally from California. When I moved here, I got multiple comments that made me aware that many people back east think California is a weird, weird place, in a not to be trusted fully kind of way.

I don't know if this is a big part of it, but it is striking that California, at least from the Bay Area south, still practically screams its Spanish and Mexican heritage, in place names, food, and people.

It is disconcerting how normal the people I see on a regular basis are acting versus how not normal I feel.
