Some facts that stood out:
- It's a client with its own relay built in, on iPhone (TestFlight only), Android (GitHub releases) and the web.
- The privacy policy is the most detailed of the six so far, and matches the code: no analytics or crash reporting libraries.
- It also says what still leaks: profile pictures go through wsrv.nl, and link previews show your IP to the linked site, with no setting to turn either off yet.
- Code is MIT, keys in the Keychain or encrypted Android storage, NIP-46, Amber and NIP-07 supported.

Quill got a bunch of new things this week:

• Photos. Off by default. The photo is redrawn in your browser first, so the location and other camera data are gone, then uploaded to your own Blossom server (your 10063 list, which you can now edit from Settings). If you have two servers it keeps a copy on the second.

• If a photo in a note doesn't load, you can ask Quill to look for it on the author's other servers by its hash. Only when you tap, since each server sees your IP.

• Zap history in Settings: what you sent and got, from the public receipts.

• "Your notes, safe" can now restore from a saved file, and checks what each relay really kept.

• Feeds load properly on bad coverage.

• A floating tab bar on the iPhone app.

But what if the events it was receiving could be broadcast in another way, like through local bluetooth mesh, so they it is actually assisting connection and not merely serving as a cache?

Funny you say that: a good chunk of the red in that chart is kind 20000, the geohash chats bitchat uses. bitchat already does the mesh part over Bluetooth and falls back to relays like this one. A relay that also spoke mesh would be a nice bridge, but I haven't tried it.

What a small personal relay sees in a day. Amber is what it actually stores: 939 events. Blue is ephemeral stuff it just passes along, mostly chat presence: 132k. Red is what it turns away: 319k, almost all rate limits, plus 35k requests for private messages that weren't the requester's to read.

So for every event it keeps, it turns away about 340. The whole database is 83 MB.
