I’m not sure I’m ready to agree with you there just yet. While open source is a great way to get a lot of eyes on potential vulnerabilities, that process appeared to fail in the case of cold card where it seems everybody thought everybody else had sufficiently reviewed the code. Open source created a false sense of security; it was revealed to be not in any one’s individual interest to go to the lengths necessary to discover the vulnerability. Except that it was in the interests of a thief to go to such lengths and that is exactly what happened. Modern cutting edge AI tools certainly give more power to the white hats but they give an equal amount of power to the black hats so nothing has really changed.

There is a direct relationship between how much energy you use and your standard of living. Your wealth is fundamentally a measure of energy used. Anyone telling you to use less energy or fewer resources believes in a zero sum economy where in order for one to have more, someone else must have less. Various religions and philosophies correctly point out the evils of greed and yet greedy individuals and power structures have also hijacked religion and philosophy to serve their own useful narrative, namely that wealth is evil or poverty is somehow noble— it’s better to have less than more. It’s possible that if we were talking about the world economic forum or climate hysteria that you might readily see my point but because I criticized a book you (I think) believe in, you can’t look past your programming. Or am I wrong… are you capable of critical thinking and seeing the pattern here?

People do what is easy so we must change the incentives such that freedom is easier than slavery. Right now slavery is the easier choice. These sorts of changes take time and are not brought about by waking up the masses no matter how articulate or passionate we may be. It’s a process of slowly building and improving the freedom tech and liberty ecosystem that one day the Normies will simply adopt because it’s the easiest way to live
