There is no place geographically where freedom is assured. We do the best we can where we are with what we have, to steal a phrase. Running away ceased to be an option when all land worth living on came to be considered by governments as theirs. Freedom tech is our only escape if we don’t want to fight a war.

I agree it’s useless except in very limited circumstances and then only temporarily. As for mass refusal to vote, I think we’re already at a point where a lot of people don’t vote and it doesn’t seem to significantly diminish the apparent legitimacy of the system. Also, any approach that requires “enough people to…” is doomed to failure. I have my sights set on achieving a personal escape. I want to be able to enforce my sovereignty against any aggressor. I think that’s more doable than saving the country. And perhaps if enough people did like I do, the country wcould indeed be saved. But I don’t need that to happen in order to be free or at least freer than the average American.

I agree; let me clarify. When you opt out of voting, you haven’t isolated yourself from the system. You’re not necessarily choosing violence. You’re merely choosing to not participate in the ritual of voting. But if opting out of voting is part of a broader choice of opting out of the system (not paying taxes, not obeying law enforcement, ignoring regulations, etc) then you are acting in a manner that the system is designed to direct violence against.

In other words, you can choose to disengage from the system but that doesn’t mean it will let you do so peacefully. You must have the capability to defend your choices by making any act of violence against you as expensive as possible to your attacker.
