OK, go on then #Fediverse, tell me about some cool Artisan Hand-Crafted software projects you are working on or otherwise know of.

It could be a system tool, a mobile app, a game, or even just a simple shell script that helps you with a single niche problem your experience spuriously. I don't care, so long as it is handcrafted by humans I want to hear about it, and your passion for it.

@nprofile1q... I should probably learn that at some point - been working on my own for 12 years 🤣

This afternoon I drove about 120 km to a customer's site, carrying roughly 50 kg of equipment. One of their younger guys, I'd say around 20, was talking about the trips he'd taken this summer, all by...

@nprofile1q... @nprofile1q... Tactical Assault Unicorn is quite possibly the best description for a rhino I have ever heard...

And I used to work in a zoo*, so I know what I'm talking about

Meanwhile, France and Spain are literally on fire because of climate change. 🔥 nostr:nevent1qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyd968gmewwp6kyqpqh9svwy3c4g5zy4jttkgtcpe6ac4vhm044up4k95ksel4er2z79kqytgx58

This is the magnificent library Anthropic amassed, before destroying it because it gave them a legal copyright loophole. #Anthropic #AI #Books #Culture #Tech #LLMs #Civilization https://cdn.mstdn.c...

@nprofile1q... somebody needs to be behind bars for this.

Absolutely horrifying.

I think anthropic's argument is something like "books are a data delivery system. Once an LLM had read that data the book has done its job"
It's f*cking sickening.

Great news! Debian has a new GR to ban LLMs: https://www.debian.org/vote/2026/vote_002 nostr:nprofile1qy2hwumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyd968gmewwp6kyqpqlp8g53arwwh0tf7d57rd3jkfcvmnje6svs4wqxsfrpmtey29n9yqfsc2n...

"It is our belief that widespread LLM usage comes from the "move fast, and break things" attitude that, while common in many parts of this industry, is contrary to what makes Debian Debian"

This is definitely one to watch!

I, for one, appreciate the re-addition of RJ45 sockets on laptops.
Thank you for your attention in this matter.

Can we just, for once, have a CEO of a business we came to trust donate millions to, like, a local cat rescue centre, homeless shelter, drug rehabilitation centre or something instead of fascism?!

This post may or may be about #Mullvad, #Framework, #Proton and....well, I could go on

Got an annoying drone that keeps flying and hovering over my house.
Now, I don't mind the flight - go do it, but just don't hover for 10 minutes directly above my house, it's rude... anyway...

I've repurposed an old Wireless AP to pick up the Drone's RemoteID to pick up the drone and operator's location and pop the points onto a map for me. Now I know where they operate the drone from...

What to do with this power? I'm thinking publish it on a website somewhere and stick a QR code with the link on my roof...

(map tiles removed in image for privacy, there is an actual map underneath)
