GM! Agios Nikolaos (St. Nicholas) Church in Chania, Crete. Built around 1320 as a Roman Catholic cathedral, it was converted into a mosque after the Ottoman conquest in the 17th century and then back into a church in 1918, this time Orthodox. It is the only building in Greece to possess both a bell tower and a minaret. #greece#photography
GM! Buildings of Heraklion, capital of Crete. Many buildings have an Italian vibe because the island was Venetian for more than 450 years. After that the island was taken by the Ottoman Empire, and Heraklion suffered a 21 years siege, one of the longest sieges in history. The city and the whole island were called Candia back then. #greece#photography
