Well kids, I am in the hospital. Hopefully it will just be overnight.

Six weeks ago I went to my eye doc because I thought I had a retinal tear. He ordered an MRI but told me to go to the ER if it changes. That MRI was postponed by the hospital to the end of October. My eye issue changed and today I decided to go to the ER. The one I went to transferred me to a different hospital. I have several tests yet but an ophthalmologist said I’ve had a retinal stroke.

This is my sweet potato harvest for 2026. I used empty poultry feed bags as grow bags. Next year I may try limiting my slips to two per bag and see how they work out.

This was a rough year for my overall garden. Lots of rain early, then 99-105°F temps for days in a row.

Dad and I had pulmonologist appointments this morning. Instead we are at Memorial ER. Dad called feeling weak, again. He said it was similar, but not as bad as back in July. No obvious signs of infection. Doctor has been in but no tests run yet.

Welcome our new addition, Sugar.

We applied to adopt this senior lady from Sanctuary Acres Boxer Rescue before Wayne’s mom got bad. We had already arranged to pick her up today. We decided to keep that appointment and drove to Staunton, VA this morning.

Sugar is a sweet lady, 12 years old. Brindle, and Boxer built, except for her overall size. She is a tiny little thing. Bob hasn’t made up his mind but does know some of those tennis balls are his. LOL

I cooked the Romas yesterday. I am finishing them up this morning. I have about two quarts left. I think I will freeze it.

I am using a FruitSaver steam canner. It is SO much easier than a water bath canner. I am also using Harvest Guard Reusable Canning Lids and rings.
