We might not know exactly who is pushing it but the fact that it's being pushed is dystopian.

I'm not following the jump from "understanding that religions and traditions are built on truths discovered over time" to "ah yes no way people figured this stuff out, must be god"?

Society doesn't constantly tell people not to steal, and not to murder, either (except in church, at least in my experience). The people who do terrible things are already beyond telling "please don't do bad stuff", they do these things impulsively.

As someone who lives in one of the most dangerous countries on this planet, and as a guy, I would prefer that the women I care about follow these guidelines of keeping themselves safe.

It sucks that a lot of people are not capable of controlling themselves, but let's control what is in our power. This is not a defence of men who do these things, but every man I associate with isn't someone who would, so I have no power over those who are capable of such things.
