One of the only ones I got through to was a gym bro. I was like "imagine if you went to the gym and used a machine to lift weights for you. That's what using AI for schoolwork is like. But the point of the gym isn't to lift weights, it's to get stronger, right? The point of homework isn't to hand in paperwork, it's to learn how something is done."

I tried to explain to them that they were only robbing themselves of educational opportunities, and they weren't really getting it.

AI is fucking weird.

The older I get, the less and less appealing owning a home is. Or maybe I'm just getting better at bullying landlords into fixing stuff. Either way, it's getting harder for me to feel like owning a home is the "smart money move" here.

Just read some conversations on reddit about spotting AI writing. We are fully cooked.

People say ā€œwriters using the rule of 3ā€ is a sign of AI. Like when you provide 3 examples to set a pattern, and no more. This is just what people learn in school, though, because it’s effective writing.

And em-dashes? Well several people have said that that’s a surefire sign of AI, because they don’t even know how to type them. Which is amazing because on most devices you just hit hyphen 2x — — —

Once again AI is primarily a problem because people aren’t learning critical thinking skills or basic computer use in school.

Kinda embarrassing that so many people are still into AI

I made my mind up on this shit years ago when I realized no one has made positive cashflow on this. Who cares how much it’s being deployed? The users aren’t making more money. The orgs that adopt it aren’t making more money. And the AI companies themselves aren’t making any money at all.

No one has ever made a dime off of AI/LLMs, and no one has a plan that will lead them to profitability. This is all hype

All the No Kings people surprised they got tear gassed… first time, huh? This is what cops do. This is why police departments exist.

Every software developer in 5 years is going to have this interaction:

Interviewer: So can you explain this gap in your resume?

Dev: Yes, that's when the industry laid everyone off because of AI before scrambling to hire everyone back a couple years later when the global economy fell apart because they pushed AI slopware to production one too many times.

Just got the first/only job I applied for out of trade school. Wooo

I knew this AI shit was gonna be bad for the tech industry and made moves to avoid it like two years ago. Sucks to be right.

@nprofile1q... @nprofile1q... @nprofile1q... Doesn’t having inaccessible software, which is also countrary to several laws, also prevent FOSS adoption? You haven’t made a single point about age verification that doesn’t also apply to accessibility
