Cloudflare has been one of the few to stand up and not cancel them. But both major cloud services, Joyent, several DNS registrars, and a ridiculous number of banks and payment providers have done so. My guess is activists have figured out what they are using and started campaigns and these folks just didn’t want the hassle. On one hand I get it but, on the other, it’s sad that these companies will sever ties to paying customers for, essentially, political reasons. He tried basing his code based on on ActivityPub (that actually how I came to know it) and you can only imagine the uproar. Most of the apps hard coded in blocks to his site which, to me, goes against the spirit of the project…let users and instances make blocking decisions.
Maybe he’s full of shit here. I can’t possibly know for sure. He has produced receipts in the past. I don’t really have a dog on the fight but I want to live in a world where stuff like Gab exists because I actually believe in free anonymous expression even when that means it’s from people I disagree with strongly about a lot of things.
