Well I can confirm that on my #FreeBSD #ThinkPad using the AX200 WiFi setup with lagg works solidly after a wee doas service netif restart && doas service routing restart. On first boot sometimes it gets WiFi and then drops it and others it just doesn't get. But running the above commands after bootup fixes it and it stays connected.

I hear what you're saying Tom but I'm wondering if it's a timing issue as restarting netif and routing after my ThinkPad boots up with a failed wlan0 brings it up solid and no other devices are having this issue in the house ???

When it's working I see this in my ifconfig output section of wlan0. Note I've removed macs and ip's.

wlan0: flags=1008843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST,LOWER_UP> metric 0 mtu 1500

And when it's not and I get no link to network:

wlan0: flags=1008843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST,LOWER_UP> metric 0 mtu 1500
options=0
ether *:*:*:*:*:*

I'm also right next to the AP so both 2.4 and 5G signals are very good.

It makes no difference. Sometimes on reboot I get WiFi the next it doesn't and I still see on login in the following pop up over when it asks for my username on the tty.

iwlwifi0: Not associated and the session protection is over already...
iwlwifi0: linuxkpi_ieee80211_connection_loss: vif 0xfffffe01bdc0cf00 vap 0xfffffe01bdc0c010 state AUTH (synched 0, assoc 0 beacons 0 dtim_period 0)
But if I restart netif and routing in that order it comes up and stays up at least it did this morning up until now when I tried your suggestions and rebooted several times.
Justine Smithies profile picture
Not yet although since booting this morning and having to rundoas service netif restart && doas service routing restart I noticed that it has been solid since.

Thanks for your honesty Neil. I too am not keen on large crowded spaces especially although I do feel that one day I'd have to visit one of these conferences to get the experience and meet folk that maybe I follow or follow myself here. The term I use is "This place is too peopley". A totally made up word but I think it'd be one you use too?
Justine Smithies profile picture
Yeah I've found that out too. I also noticed that restarting the network and routing sometimes brings it back up too.

doas service netif restart && doas service routing restart
