Illinois:
Passed the Digital Asset Privilege Tax Act
- Senate Bill 3019 (SB 3019)
- June 16, 2026, signed into law (effective January 1, 2027)

Finding an old hard drive that was retired before January 3, 2009 at approximately 18:15:05 UTC is much less interesting than finding a hard drive that was retired after the genesis block.

If the drive is post genesis block, YOU might be on the BRINK of profound riches.

I found an old drive from 2003. My first thought was graduate school papers. The internet — or perhaps Bitcoin — has trained an entire generation to ask a different question: “…any chance this thing touched January 2009?” 🤔🤣
