I've been dabbling in #rust this past week and while I really like the language the compilation times are killing me.

I have a small project I was asked to help with, it uses axum, tokio and serde, and from what I gather use of macros in these packages causes the compiler to go crazy.

I've worked with OCaml, Haskell, Elm and PureScript before and I've never seen such compilation times as I see in Rust.

And not just the energy squeeze. LLMs are hemorrhaging money even in the current energy environment. It's very clearly a bubble that's getting ready to explode.

The amount of resources it requires vs the end result it provides looks like a negative ROI to me. It has some uses, but most of these would be prohibitively expensive if priced correctly.

At this point I'm not even sure they have a single profitable use, outside of luxury ego stroking for the rich maybe.
