The bots were initially programmed to run like humans but their shoulders and arms weren’t moving well and they crashed or overheated. Them they let them self-optimize and this is the result.
That makes sense for them probably because they are nothing like humans except for vaguely representing the body parts in shape.
They have no muscle, no skin, no bones and probably the most important part is no brain.
Even if for a human this would also be the fastest way to move (which i doubt after millions of years of evolutionary shaping) it is probably not the "best" way. I can see how running like that would make you much more prone to falling, which is in most cases is much worse than being a little faster.
I'm sure you were not asking it for seriousness though but it would still be hilarious to see somebody run like that.
