Millennials were born into a world of info sources curated by centralized systems of power (books, encyclopedias, big 3 news stations, etc).

The internet shattered those structures of curated info at the exact moment we learned to think for ourselves. We were told “you can’t trust the internet,” but we knew better. We became our own judge of credibility and value.

But we may be sliding back into the internet’s version of the old world. LLMs are a much more powerful and all encompassing version of the information world we were born into. It feels free but it actually removes the need/option to judge credibility and value. It answers your question.

We will say “back in the day, Google would give you a list of websites and it was up to you to find the information.” They will laugh, like we laughed. But what if the geezers are right this time?

What happens when we collectively forget how to dig?

Thank you for sharing that. I have "The Tao of Pooh" on my bookshelf. Bought it at a used bookstore in Rice Lake, a small town to the south of me. I enjoyed it. I break it out once and awhile . . . when I want to tap into Taoism. 🙏
