Long before Pepe was a thing, William J. Kolomyjec (b. 1947) got inspired by his friend Charles Csuri and came up with the idea of Frog Pong.

Coded in FORTRAN on a CDC 6500 mainframe (super) computer and plotted out a Calcomp 936 drum plotter at Michigan State University during the artist's MFA/PhD studies.

The reason is simple: you will never know when, or most importantly what, surveillance software they may install on your personal devices or the apps you use daily.

Take iOS 26.4, the first update to introduce the Age Verification in compliance with the Digital Service Act and forthcoming legal frameworks in your country. By the time you realized, it was too late.

WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger (laughable), and perhaps even Telegram and Viber cannot be trusted. WeChat and Line, no comment.

Signal, the gold standard, may not be enough but it is something even your parents could at least begin to use and is better than nothing. Privacy is an absolute human right, as fundamental as the freedom to transact.

The hard truth is that the majority of digital art on the blockchain won’t stand the test of time. Smart contracts will be hacked one by one, metadata will be lost, and 'alternative blockchains' will wind down their operations. As an art enthusiast, it pains me to say it, but Bitcoin is the only one that will actually endure and even that won’t be enough to preserve the culture of digital artifacts.

I’m open minded that they can make it despite massive missteps and no strong web3 market or deliverables like a viable metaverse. The idea of a comic nft is a little odd when only certain issues are chosen. Feels more like a facsimile tribute rather than a unique item. There are also way too many...
