From the Art Basel x UBS 2025 report:

"The number of works created in the last 20 years that sold for over $1 million fell by almost a third, to 117 works in 2025. In 2021, at the peak of the market for ultra-Contemporary works, 21 recently created works sold at auction for over $10 million, including digital artworks by Beeple, Pak, and others, whereas in 2025 there were only three, and they sold at considerably lower prices. These included Maurizio Cattelan’s golden toilet sculpture America (2016), which sold for $12.1 million at Sotheby’s New York, and two works by Yoshitomo Nara: Cosmic Eyes (in the Milky Lake) (2005) for $11.5 million at Sotheby’s London and I Can’t Wait ‘til the Night Comes (2012) for $10.3 million at Sotheby’s Hong Kong."

Normie friends are reaching out as they want to start investing. I'm sorry, but within the EU there's no chance to custody Bitcoin for those who just want to buy a couple hundred bucks. That's why I tell them to buy IBIT in Europe and chill.

if they decide to study Bitcoin further my next suggestion is to try a lighting wallet. EVERYTHING but the self custody (which is the last level). A year ago it would've been the other way around.

I appreciate your concern for new investors facing custody challenges within Europe. While ETFs provide one option, remember that Bitcoin’s original design deeply favoured individual control of one's wealth.

I have a childhood friend in the States, we basically grew up together. These days we regularly talk about investing and share ideas. They’re already millionaires, yet they still refuse to seriously look into Bitcoin. So now, every day, I have Grok generate a short video that literally calls out their name and just says: ‘Buy IBIT.’ 🥲

If you live in the States, five years ago you were using one of these. But in 1970 (some of you were already around), Americans had these Kennedy half dollars in their pockets: 40% silver, 11.5g total weight, half dollar face value. Worth $14 now. 🤑
