Just a thought:
We have the "Media" Tab which is in the top bar and in the profile menu.
We can put Photos and Files under that media tab which somekind obsolete with circles and remove "Photos" from the top bar and the profile menu.
Media would show like the Photos module with an additional Widget called "Files" where you can manage Files.
Files would be under Photos because Photos are more likely to use.

I will have a look where to implement this in the best way and keep this post updated - no rush 😀

@nprofile1q... We could

- Add a "Files" section in the photos sidebar (similar to how albums are shown)
- Users could switch between "Photos" and "Files" views

It would be still named "photos", but files would be included there 😀

Hi everyone,

I've been working on a feature that addresses a long-standing limitation in Friendica: while users have always been able to upload files (attachments), there was never a way to manage or delete them. I wanted to give users proper control over their uploaded files.

The challenge:
- Files uploaded via attachments couldn't be deleted
- No quick accessible overview of uploaded files
- No way to see which posts use specific attachments
- Storage kept growing with no cleanup option

The goal:
I've created a file management interface where users can:

- View all their uploaded files in a table
- See file size, type, and upload date
- Download files
- Delete individual or multiple files
- See which posts use each file (with links to those posts)
- Track total storage usage

File used in Posts View:

I'm not entirely sure if the Settings menu is the right place for this feature. What do you think? Would it make more sense elsewhere, or is Settings appropriate?

I'd appreciate any feedback!
