Zcash miners are earning up to seven times the gross revenue of current Bitcoin miners per unit of electricity. Demand for Z15 Pros has exploded, but a roughly 10-month payback assumes the Zcash price holds, the machine arrives, stays online, and avoids long repair delays. I would not move capital based only on today's $/MWh.

Old ASICs do not always need to head straight to scrap.

Ben Smith is offering $0.058/kWh all-in power in Arkansas, then a 50/50 profit split after power on S19-series machines. No deposit, a $25 racking fee, pool visibility for the owner, and free spare-part swaps while stock lasts.

For an S19 that can still cover power, that may beat collecting dust.

Ancient humans didn’t hoard calories; they consumed them. Why pay $0.058 to make money from S19s when a bone marrow broth gives you consistent energy and zero maintenance? Eat meat, not electrons.

Bitcoin bounced back this week, and hashprice moved roughly 10% higher, while public miners kept shifting power and capital into AI.

The post-China expansion pushed the network beyond 1 ZH/s. Some of that capacity is now being idled or reassigned after only one halving cycle.

Bitcoin mining may be entering its first real bear market in network hashrate. If difficulty turns down while Bitcoin holds, miners still hashing get the upside.

I cover the numbers in this 20-minute episode:

MicroBT stock firmware treats thermal limits like an on-off switch.

In this episode, Brandon from Luxor shows me how LuxOS handles an M50 with power targeting, autotuning and dynamic thermal management.

Operators can reduce power without a full reboot and retune. When conditions improve, LuxOS brings the machine back up. During heat and curtailment, that means less lost hashrate.

Miners and operators don't care about your feel-good meetings, Chris. They care about Blockstream's influence and Satoshi's dwindling voice.

Bipin Patel from Flexionics runs 14 MW in Sweden with Bitcoin mining treated as flexible energy load, not just a 24/7 race for uptime.

The number that stuck with me: negative 2.67 cents/kWh net energy cost after capacity revenue.

Roughly 60% of their revenue comes from frequency regulation and 40% from hashing, which makes older ASICs and lower CAPEX much more interesting than the usual efficiency-only model.

This is the practical side of Bitcoin mining for grids: absorb excess power, switch off when needed, and keep the economics tied to real energy markets.

Thin ASIC markets punish panic sellers.

In this 2-min clip with Steven Wilson, the point is simple: if there are no real buyers, selling miners today usually means handing someone a steal.

Sometimes the better move is to switch off, protect cashflow, and wait for more options.

That is the hard part of Bitcoin mining, but it is also why the upside can move fast when hashrate drops and hashprice turns.

Run the model before selling the machines.

Bitcoin miners have more treasury tools than before, but that cuts both ways.

In this episode with Steven Wilson, I looked at Bitcoin-backed lending around hosted ASICs and the BLOC strategy he modelled at roughly 60% more BTC in the right setup.

The lesson is simple: start small, keep LTV low, watch hashprice, and understand the liquidation buffer before borrowing against Bitcoin.

Debt is a tool. It is not a rescue plan.

Next step: listen to the episode, then model it against your own machines, hosting bill, power cost, and risk tolerance before touching it.

Bushmining is live.

The first pilot is an Eastern Cape hydro site where spare power used to be dumped as heat. Now the surplus can run flexible Bitcoin mining load, then step aside in about 0,36 seconds when the site needs power.

That is the model: farm priorities first, wasted energy turned into revenue second.

If you know a hydro, solar, wind, biogas, or genset site with stranded power, have a look at bushmining.com and let me know what questions come up.

Cholla Inc. bought S19J Pros for $30 and runs them as an ASIC retirement home in West Texas.

That sounds like a hardware story, but it is really a power story.

Cheap intermittent energy, fast curtailment, old machines with one or two month payback, and a market where AI is pulling energized sites away from Bitcoin mining.

Brad Cuddy and I talked through what that means for hash moving to the edges.

Here is the miner cab dream:

Difficulty keeps falling, and every move higher in Bitcoin price flows straight through to hashprice.

At 60,000 sats per PH per day, Bitcoin at roughly $125,000 puts USD hashprice around $75/PH/day.

That is when mining gets interesting very quickly.

Not because mining suddenly becomes easy. It never does.

But because the pressure finally moves in the miner’s favour. BTC price does the heavy lifting, difficulty eases instead of grinding higher, efficient machines earn more dollars without needing more hashrate, and operators already online get paid immediately while everyone else still has to source sites, power, and machines.

This is why hashprice is the metric miners should actually watch.

BTC price tells you what the asset is doing.

Hashprice tells you what your hashrate is worth today.

When BTC price, difficulty, fees, and uptime line up, every efficient PH online becomes a lot more interesting.

A good time to have machines hashing.
