Hurrah for #Victorinox! Almost 30 years ago I got - as a gift - one of their knives, a gentleman's multi-tool. It had all the tools a gentleman needs: a cigar cutter, a bottle opener, a cork screw, and a knife. Plus some others. But after all that time it was getting a bit poorly. Everything was blunt, the joints were stiff and out of alignment. So I posted it to them, and a month later it came back as good as new.

Disgusted, as usual, about how #BSD just isn't *fun*. I have upgraded two #FreeBSD VMs' OSes this evening and ... it just worked. I didn't have to swear at anything, or read the source code, or knit my own boot loader from twigs. The BSDs really should learn some lessons from other more funnerer OSes.

@nprofile1q... We can't all be "power users" in everything we use. I'm 100% OK with instant usability. If someone wants to just use a computer without knowing how it works that's no different from me wanting to just use clothes without knowing about weaving and stitching. Yes, that means that I'm dependent on Big Sewing. I'm OK with that. I don't want to be a self-sufficient peasant who can do everything he needs to survive but can't go to the opera.

Do any of my #FreeBSD homies know how well supported this machine is? In particular, can it drive two HDMI monitors, the wireless network, and get OMG TEH SPEEEEED out of disks on the USB-C ports? Don't care about GPU performance, just about xterms and maybe the occasional web page with pictures and a video in it.

Intention is to run a bunch of VMs with other OSes for testing purposes, using #VirtualBox, and a fileserver.
