I don’t want to be entangled in Europe - or anyone else’s - wars. Learned that lesson last century by foolishly joining in two world wars.

As an American, I completely oppose this idiotic, unjust war with Iran (for the dychotomized out there, that doesn’t mean I support Iran).

As an American, I’m also more than happy to see us withdraw from Europe/Nato and Asia. But I won’t hold my breath on it actually happening.

I’ll be going to mass in 45 minutes. The church - St Valentine’s - has a beautiful picture of God the Father, together with the Holy Spirit (depicted as a Dove). Christ is depicted on numerous crucifixes - including a larger than life one - a Sacred Heart statue, and the stations of the cross. There is zero confusion on who God is in Catholicism. Focus is always on the Eucharist, the source & summit of our Faith, and where our worship is focused, especially at mass.

The ‘Holy Family’ refers to Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.

Father, I’m 90 miles SW of Chicago, and they nearly destroyed our business this fall. Unreal.

I haven’t seen the polling, but anecdotaly I’ve seen some of what you are talking about.
In the first, the people I’m thinking of assign ‘5D chess’ to everything the man does. They also tend to see everything through the lens of ‘what this will do to the market / the latest hot stock my podcast guy told me about’.

I suspect this is an area, like many, where having a breakdown between actual, practicing Catholics versus self-identifying ones would show stark differences.
